Because my vocabulary and spelling are limited, I use an
online dictionary frequently. If I look-up a word online and the internet doesn't doesn't do what I expect, I usually resort to my
Webster's II New College Dictionary.
On such days, I wish my internet connection had a freaking hand-crank to get it started...

Despite the amount of ongoing research on the topic, a rather large percentage of the nation's population continues to look at global warming as debatable opinion and not fact.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of
real world examples of global warming that turn up in the news every day. The most recent being that an ice shelf broke away from Ellesmere Island in Northern Canada.
I suggest jumping over to Wikipedia to see a good image showing the
anatomy of an Antarctic ice shelf. I'm no scientist, but I'm guessing that an ice shelf on the Northern pole may differ from the one in the diagram due to the smaller size of Ellesmere Island.

I just saw
An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore's film presenting the
serious
issue of global warming. The film's goal is ultimately to raise awareness, and show us that all of humankind, regardless of our different political and cultural goals, will suffer if we don't come together on this one.
All humans are different, but living on the world is something we all have in common. With that said, simply disagreeing with Gore's views is not a good excuse for skipping out on this film. The cause is far too important and shouldn't be brushed off when the film only takes up two hours of your life. If you have an opportunity to see this film, please go see it.
You've probably seen bumper stickers by now that say "if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention". Well, it's embarrasing that the U.S. government hasn't started to deal with global warming.
Go watch the film. It's entertaining, and you might learn a thing or two. In the meantime, go check out the website:

National Geographic has released an article claiming that scientists from a university in China have successfully created embryos from human cells and rabit eggs. Only a few years ago the world was cloning sheep, and already we are working on "animal-human hybrids".
I don't strongly agree or disagree with this, but I'm thinking that it can't be good for us to be fucking with these types of things. On the other hand, the embryos were destroyed and used for stem cells. If Ben Franklin never flew a kite in a storm with a key on it, he wouldn't have noticed electricity. Not to say that someone else wouldn't ever come up with this idea except for himself, but advancements in science and technology are only found through strange experiments. It will be interesting to see what we are working on by 2010.
