CityDesk is a program by FogCreek Software. A friend of mine from work has been using it to create a good looking weblog, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I tryed the demo version, which consisted of all features (except for a limitation on the amount of files you are allowed to create) for about three days. The main reason I wanted to give it a shot was because I needed a push learning how to make webpages that kept the layout separate from the content. It turns out that CityDesk made this difficult for me to understand. I'm guessing that's because I'm used to looking at code and aren't always GUI-friendly when it comes to making webpages. (Frontpage SUCKS!!) Secondly CityDesk doesn't allow me to add blog entries from other locations. It only publishes sites according to templates in a static fashion. This is ok, but I really want this flexibility.

I've decided to code my own weblog, and I have two main goals as a programmer. My first is to do my absolute best to keep all design and content separate. This means a good style sheet with a minimum of styling in my HTML code. My second goal is to write better PHP. By this I mean making useful functions, comments, clear variables, and code reuse. These four items are what stand out when I look back at my college years. (haha, my college years) Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
